The Renault 5 lowers the price of its long-range version.
This page is translated from the original post "La Renault 5 abaisse le prix de sa version grande autonomie" in French.

Just a few months after its launch, the Renault 5 E-Tech 150 hp Techno sees its price drop by more than 3000 euros.
Among manufacturers, there are two commercial approaches: one with a fixed and non-negotiable price (think Tesla), and the others where each party—the buyer and the seller—make strides towards each other. Thus, Renault belongs to the latter category where the list price is never, absolutely never, the amount that appears on the invoice. And it’s always good to remember that.
Therefore, the brilliant Renault 5 E-Tech electric, a few months after its release, does not play the hypocrisy card. Yes, its list price is steep, but one should not overlook the question of operating costs compared to a thermal equivalent. Fuel, maintenance, the list can be long and expensive.

Less than 29,000 euros, after incentives
In its industrial ramp-up, Renault has favored the 52 kWh battery version of the first R5 E-Tech, known as “Comfort Range,” which offers up to 412 km of range. This is more than enough for a city car. With its premium positioning, the stylish French car (produced in northern France) is a true rival to the Chinese-produced Mini Cooper electric.
Today, the diamond brand is offering initial discounts on units that will soon be available at dealerships. Thus, it is revealed that the R5 E-Tech Techno 150 hp, in Pearl White (an option at 650 euros), sees its price drop from 32,140 to 29,123 euros after applying the 2000 euro ecological bonus. This is a reduction of 3017 euros!
Additionally, the customer can add the new CEE bonus of 310 euros, bringing the final price to 28,813 euros.
If you are not in a hurry, and considering a price difference of 3500 euros with the 120 hp version with a 40 kWh battery (Urban Range of 309 km), one can already forecast prices below 25,000 euros very soon if opting out of an optional color.
Once this is stated, one can think even further: the entry-level version, with its 90 hp and the small battery, but also with reduced interior plastics and equipment, will fall below the 20,000 euro mark within the next 12 months.
