The Lancia Ypsilon pays tribute to the devilish Stratos

The round LED taillights of the car are inspired by the legendary Lancia Stratos and the most radical spirit of the brand.

Although we now know everything about the upcoming Lancia Ypsilon thanks to leaks in recent weeks, it is still interesting to understand how a car’s style is born. The reveal of the rear of the new Lancia Ypsilon allows us to discover the iconic round, now LED, taillights. This is a clear reference to the brand’s most brutal spirit and to the unforgettable and legendary Lancia Stratos. The two lights now feature a new design element, the letter Y, an extremely symbolic synthesis placed horizontally within the circles.

The Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept had already provided a preview of these lights framing the new Lancia lettering. Its original font is inspired by one of Italy’s most closely related industries to the brand’s history: fashion. The Ypsilon lettering below, and its “handwritten” characters, draw inspiration from the brand’s historic models such as Fulvia, Flavia, and Flaminia, known for their clean design.

The reveal of the new Ypsilon is scheduled for February 2024, through a limited edition LANCIA YPSILON CASSINA LIMITED EDITION. Equipped with a 100% electric powertrain, available in 1906 numbered and certified units, the model represents the first concrete step in the brand’s Renaissance, with a clear electrification strategy aligned with Stellantis’ “Dare Forward” plan and supported by Free2move Charge within a comprehensive 360° charging ecosystem.
