Based on the Hyundai group’s modular E-GMP platform, the EV4 comes in two battery capacities: 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh. The larger one promises up to 630 kilometers of range according to the WLTP cycle. Standard or optional, advanced technologies can be found such as the Vehicle-to-Load function, which allows powering external devices, and the Vehicle-to-Grid, which allows energy return to the grid. In terms of design and practicality, Kia has opted for an aluminum hood to reduce weight and offers five exterior colors to attract discerning customers.
The Žilina plant, modernized with an investment of €108 million to accommodate the EV4, is a true industrial pillar for Kia in Europe. Capable of assembling 350,000 vehicles per year, it operates solely on renewable electricity and already produces the XCeed and Sportage in their hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. The Fastback version of the EV4 will, however, continue to be produced in Korea.
