MG’s Huge Tackle on France!!!

MG is not backing down and is taking advantage of this election day to make it known with a very spicy ad campaign.

MG refuses to raise its prices! MG is the big loser from the new customs fees imposed by the European Union on electric car imports from China. This measure, which came into effect on July 5, results in a surcharge of 37.6% on all cars from the SAIC Group, MG’s parent company and, incidentally, a Chinese state manufacturer. This last point certainly explains the extent of the penalty as Brussels wants to punish the generous subsidies granted by Beijing to its manufacturers.

With France supporting this Brussels approach, it is not illogical that it experiences a bit of backlash. The political instability that is engulfing the hexagon seems to have inspired the advertisers at MG, who have come up with a flash campaign that is as strong as it is brilliant. France has dissolved the assembly? Well, MG is going to dissolve the stocks it has carefully inflated in France in anticipation of the sanctions.

MG France is therefore playing the irony card by announcing the dissolution of its stocks of electric vehicles, not with 577 (the number of re-elected deputies this evening) but with 5,000 seats to fill without touching its prices. It’s an opportunity for the brand to remind everyone that its entire range has been available for several months under a Long-Term Rental offer with no upfront payment. A nice communication operation that at least gave us a good laugh on this day with dark prospects.
