Tesla Model Y: its bonus will drop to €4,160 in 2024!

The introduction of a heavy vehicle tax, including electric ones, will make the Tesla Model Y much less attractive in 2024.

Is this the end of the wastefulness for electric SUVs that consume too many resources of the planet? France is sending a strong first signal in Europe and is advocating for a return to reason among manufacturers. Vehicles, whether thermal, hybrid, or electric, are too heavy. And part of this weight is not related to the battery but to an excess of equipment, XXL screens, heated and massaging seats, a glass roof, or others.

Therefore, in a logic of resource preservation – both raw materials and energy, including electricity – the Weight Penalty introduced in 2022 will be intensified in 2024. The first concrete consequence: the Tesla Model Y, the star electric SUV of the market, will have to pay: 840 euros in Weight Penalty due to its mass of 1934 kg. This amount will be deducted from the ecological bonus of 5,000 euros.

As a result, the purchase price of the Tesla Model Y Propulsion in France will rise to 41,830 euros.

It should be noted that large families (with 3 or more children) will be exempt from this vehicle mass tax when purchasing a Tesla Model Y. All others will have to pay it.
