Skoda responds to Tesla with the Enyaq at €199/month

The return is aggressive in the electric SUV segment, with Skoda countering the LOA of the Tesla Model Y at €299/month by underpricing its Enyaq.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. The battle is initiated between Tesla and its European rivals in the electric SUV segment, while the Chinese are still quite timid, even though they are gradually gaining some market share.

Skoda is relaunching its offer from September 1 to September 30, 2024, for an Enyaq 60 at just €199 per month and with no down payment… according to the Czech manufacturer. Let’s take a closer look and pull out the calculator.

First of all, it is important to accept that the Enyaq in question is temporarily no longer in the catalog. This concerns a stock unit with a net 58 kWh battery whose promised range is 400 km. The power is set at 179 hp or 131 kW. The weight is 2085 kg, which exposes it to the increased parking fees in Paris (X3 for vehicles over 2 tons for electric or 1600 kg for other vehicles).

The maximum speed is intelligently limited to 160 km/h, and the generous trunk holds 585 liters with the seats in place. Finally, the charging capacity is up to 120 kW.

Better than a Tesla Model Y?

Certainly, on paper, the Tesla remains richer: more range, more power, more generous features… but also a higher price to bear. We have already discussed the subject of the LOA Model Y at €299/month with its specificities that need to be understood.

In the case of the Skoda, the absence of a down payment is applicable if you qualify for the ecological bonus of €7000. If not, the first payment will be €3000. Skoda then gifts the next two payments before moving on to 34 payments of €199.

Therefore, at the end of the 3-year lease and 30,000 kilometers allowed, the Enyaq 60 will have cost you only €9766 in the worst case! In the case of the Tesla, with its minimum commitment over 48 months and a first payment of €5500, the rental will have cost you €19,852. More than double for just 11 additional months.

The ultimate conclusive argument: a 3-year commitment is more than sufficient to later enjoy a new vehicle whose technology will have made a huge leap by then.

In both cases, buying an electric SUV is nonsense. You know everything, make a good choice!
