Renault 4 E-Tech electric

Before its presentation on October 14th at the Mondial de l’Auto, Renault reveals some details about the exterior design of the future Renault 4 E-Tech.

Renault certainly enjoys surprising us. Often mentioned without ever being truly anticipated in any form other than a concept car, the unforgettable 4L is set to make a comeback. Following the R5, another icon is taking advantage of the electric transition to return to the spotlight.

Launched in 1961, the Renault 4 is the first passenger car model with front-wheel drive produced by the diamond brand. Characteristic today of electric vehicles, it featured a flat floor, an innovation made possible by its engine and gearbox architecture all at the front without a transmission tunnel. Produced in over 8 million units due to its versatility from city to countryside, it brought joy to motorists in more than 100 countries.

Faithful to its ancestor, the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric will have a 100% electric powertrain and a design that incorporates the stylistic markers of the original 4L. With a length of 4.14 meters, it fits into the range between the Renault 5 (3.92 m) and the Megane (4.20 m). However, its price positioning is expected to be lower than that of these two models, with a base price close to 20,000 euros, after deducting the ecological bonus. Assembled in Maubeuge, France, it will be marketed in 2025.

Before its official presentation, Renault reveals some details of the exterior design. Besides the horizontal grille defined by the headlights, you’ll find the hatchback, capsule-shaped taillights, and a soft-top roof that will allow nostalgic drivers to enjoy the wind in their hair while reminiscing about a blessed time when the 4L was synonymous with freedom.
