New Kia EV2: the electric SUV is set to electrify Brussels

Kia will unveil its all-new compact electric SUV EV2 on January 9, 2026, at the Brussels Auto Show.

The EV2 Concept had already hinted at the essence of this bold compact SUV. Its assertive design, fluid lines, and dynamic silhouette reflect Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, which combines elegance and practicality. Inside, the modular, spacious, and eco-friendly cabin promises a flexible urban experience tailored for everyday life.

Designed and developed in Europe, the EV2 will be manufactured at the Kia plant in Žilina, Slovakia, alongside the recently awarded EV4 sedan. This choice underscores Kia’s regional commitment and its dedication to offering electric vehicles suited to European needs.

Kia wants to explore new paths

It is still unclear whether the production model will include several interesting innovations proposed in the concept: reverse-opening doors, flat floor, wide tailgate, foldable rear seats, detachable cushions, and retractable luggage dividers. These features maximize practicality, but it is not guaranteed that they will pass the barriers of mass certification.

Sustainability, on the other hand, should remain at the heart of the project. Kia has explored several paths, including advanced materials such as Simplifyber Fybron, biodegradable mycelium, or AmpliTex made from flax fibers, reducing environmental impact while offering comfort and aesthetics. The interior is expected to promote an open and modular space, ideal for urban use.
