The Kia Concept EV2 is revealing a bit more and confirming a bold vision of future urban mobility.

Presented for the first time during Kia EV Day in Barcelona, the EV2 embodies the company’s vision for more sustainable and flexible vehicle use in urban environments. With its sleek and versatile design, the Concept EV2 has been designed to meet the needs of a customer base seeking innovation, while promoting environmentally friendly practices.

The modular cabin, designed with eco-friendly materials, reflects a strong commitment to sustainability. The design philosophy, dubbed “Opposites United,” emphasizes harmony between limited space and maximum flexibility. The vehicle’s interior, inspired by the idea of a “picnic in the city,” creates an open, functional, and pleasant environment, ideal for meeting the demands of urban life.

Kia explores multiple approaches

Innovation is reflected in the use of advanced materials such as Simplifyber Fybron, a renewable cellulosic composite replacing traditional plastics, and mycelium, a biodegradable material made from fungi. These choices help reduce environmental impact while offering a modern aesthetic and refined texture. Mycelium, used in components like armrests, also provides natural insulation, while AmpliTex, a fiber-reinforced composite based on flax fibers, lightens the seat structure, enhancing the vehicle’s energy efficiency.

Beyond its innovative materials, the Concept EV2 integrates practical and original features. Its reverse-opening doors, flat floor, and wide tailgate make access and usability easier. The second-row seats can be folded to expand space, while elements like detachable cushions or retractable luggage separators add welcome versatility. This approach demonstrates a desire to maximize user experience while remaining committed to eco-responsibility.
