New engine and battery: Is the Citroën ë-C4 finally worth considering?

The Citroën ë-C4 and ë-C4X benefit from a more powerful electric motor and a larger battery to reach a range of 420 km.

This is one of the clearly visible effects of the continuous improvement that electric vehicles are experiencing. Even when they are new, as in the case of the Citroën ë-C4 and ë-C4 X. But technology is evolving so quickly in the electric automotive world today that buying your vehicle is really not a good idea. With the combination of a new 54 kWh chemistry evolution battery (up from 50 kWh previously) and a more efficient yet more powerful motor (115 kW compared to 100 kW previously, or 156 hp vs. 136 hp before), the homologated range in the WLTP mixed cycle increases by 16.6%, from 360 to 420 km. About sixty kilometers that make all the difference, because now, this means that real-world range will easily exceed 300 km. This meets 95% of a family’s needs during a calendar year.

This new offer manages to keep its price below the figure of 47,000 euros to qualify for the €5,000 ecological bonus. At €44,600 and €45,300 respectively before bonus, their prices drop after application to €39,600 and €40,300 in Shine trim, the most luxurious. This motorization will later be offered on other trims, which currently retain the old powertrain.

An opportunity for Citroën to clear its stocks by applying attractive discounts. The starting price of a Citroën ë-C4 now drops to €29,990, bonus included.

Finally, let’s remember that this Citroën is equipped as standard with a 7.4 kW single-phase charger and, for fast charging, a charger capable of accepting up to 100 kW. Allowing 80% charge in about 30 minutes. Orders have been open since May 2, 2023.
