Leapmotor T03

Designed and manufactured in China, the Leapmotor T03 is entering the French electric car market. Its main advantage? A competitive price, similar to a certain Dacia Spring.

Leapmotor will rely on the Toulouse-based importer Eve France to distribute its range of electric vehicles in France. The T03, which Mobiwisy was able to test a few weeks ago, will be officially launched in February 2023. Initially, the network will consist of around fifty sales points. This number is expected to double by the end of the year.

Priced at €25,990, the T03 drops to €20,990 after bonuses, or as low as €18,990 for those who can benefit from the super bonus of €7,000. At this price, it ranks as one of the most affordable electric cars on the market. But should it necessarily be compared to the Dacia Spring?

A Leapmotor T03 that wins the range battle

Even more affordable than the T03, Dacia’s electric city car is also more rudimentarily designed. Due to a smaller battery, it has to accept a lower range. Less powerful than the T03, the Spring is logically less lively than its rival, although the arrival of a new 65 hp version should partly improve this (performance of this version is not yet known). Finally, the T03 also has the upper hand when it comes to charging. It must be said that the Spring does not excel in this area either. In the Essential trim, it completely omits the quick charging system.

Despite all that has been said, buying a Spring today seems less risky than purchasing a T03. The network of the Franco-Romanian manufacturer is indeed incomparable to that of the new Chinese entrant.
