Hyundai Concept Three

Hyundai has unveiled a concept for a small electric car, which will be presented next week at the Munich Motor Show.

The project is named Hyundai Concept Three, suggesting that the future production model could be called Ioniq 3, in connection with the Kia EV3, just as the Ioniq 9 is associated with the EV9.

The design of Concept Three is more inspired by the Ioniq 6 sedan than by the Ioniq 5 crossover or the Ioniq 9 SUV. The car adopts a sporty two-door coupe profile, featuring very striking elements: a small “ducktail” rear spoiler, a prominent diffuser, an aggressive front splitter, slim headlights surrounding the front, well-defined rear fenders, and a compact sloped glass area to improve aerodynamics. Although much of this may not pass certification, if any of it makes it into the production model, the result could be appealing.

Finally a true Hyundai style?

This concept doesn’t just aim to impress with its look. Hyundai presents it as an example of its new design language called “Art of Steel.” According to the manufacturer, this approach draws inspiration from the flexibility of steel and translates into sculpted surfaces, sharp lines, and precise shapes that suggest both movement and accuracy.

Hyundai has confirmed that the production version of the Ioniq 3 will be marketed in the third quarter of 2026, which could allow for deliveries as early as July 2026. The car will be based on the E-GMP platform, used by almost all electric vehicles of the Hyundai Motor group, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.

The future Ioniq 3 is expected to offer a configuration similar to the Kia EV3, which features batteries of 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh, providing ranges from 267 to 372 miles. All versions of the EV3 are equipped with a single electric motor delivering 201 horsepower and 209 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels.

Inside, Hyundai promises a leap forward in terms of ergonomics and technologies. The vehicle’s infotainment system will allow, for example, the adaptation of interior lighting and sound levels based on the selected driving mode or the driver’s preferred style.
