Hyundai Ioniq 6: The Upcoming Electric Sedan
This page is translated from the original post "Hyundai Ioniq 6 : la future berline électrique imminente" in French.

Future rival of the Tesla Model 3, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be released in 2023 to strengthen the electric family sedan category.
In terms of electrified vehicles, Hyundai has already made its mark over the past few years. First with the Ioniq, a sedan available in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric versions since 2016. Then the new generation Ioniq 5 raised the stakes with an original design and, above all, an unprecedented platform. The manufacturer will also use this base for its new model.
A smooth as a pebble Ioniq 6
It was in March 2020, without the Geneva Motor Show (canceled due to Covid-19) but with a sensation, that the concept car preview was presented. Completely breaking with the sharp angles of the Ioniq 5, this car inherited the smoothest curves possible. But it is especially the intention behind this car that matters.
More than just a concept for automotive design books or shows, its lines will become reality. Just as the Concept 45 led to the Ioniq 5, the Prophecy model will give rise to the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

The Korean manufacturer has launched a series of teasers over the past few days. The first compared the shape of the car to a pebble, very aerodynamic. This confirms an imminent unveiling of the second vehicle from the new-generation electric family. No specific date yet, but we already know the model will be launched in 2023.
What do we know about the Hyundai Ioniq 6?
The Prophecy concept outlined the main design lines. The Ioniq 6 will therefore be a large electric sedan, probably about the size of a Tesla Model 3. The Korean car will rival the American, but also the upcoming Volkswagen ID.7 expected in 2023.

To outperform its rivals, it will rely on the E-GMP platform, used by the Ioniq 5 or the Kia EV6. Its charging capacity will likely be the same, around 232 kW. The size of its battery is unknown, but it should adopt the 77.4 kWh pack introduced in the 2022 model.
Thus, more than 550 km of range can be expected, compared to 491 to 626 km for the Model 3. We also hope that the 58 kWh battery will be available, to offer a more affordable price, under 45,000 euros.
