Hyundai Ioniq 5

On the occasion of the model year change, Hyundai makes some improvements to its Ioniq 5.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a large battery sees its capacity increase from 72.6 to 77.4 kWh. Now, it can theoretically travel between 476 and 507 km on a full charge. For comparison, the range was between 430 and 481 km on the previous version.

It seems that the arrival of a more powerful battery is accompanied by an increase in power. Surprisingly, Hyundai does not address this topic in its press release, but the technical sheet indicates that the 218 hp version has gained 11 hp, reaching a total of 229 hp. The Ioniq 5 with two motors, on the other hand, increases from 306 to 325 hp.

The vehicle’s range varies depending on the motor power and wheel size. The most energy-consuming configuration is the 325 hp version with 20-inch rims. To achieve the maximum range of 507 km, you should choose the 229 hp motor and 19-inch rims. The 77 kWh battery cannot be combined with the entry-level 170 hp motor.

The most powerful Ioniq 5 features all-wheel drive thanks to its two motors. In the 229 hp version, only the rear wheels are driven.

Camera mirrors now available

The 2023 model year of the Ioniq 5 is equipped with a battery pre-conditioning system, which regulates the temperature of the battery to optimize charging. It activates as soon as the driver enters a station into the navigation system.

Hyundai takes advantage of this new model year to offer optional interior and exterior camera mirrors. They form a pack costing €1,500 only available on the highest trim level. The Ioniq 5 can also receive a new suspension system, which Hyundai claims improves suspension responsiveness and ultimately enhances vehicle comfort.

The interior and exterior camera mirrors are priced at €1,500.
