Four times cheaper than a Tesla Model S, here is the Xpeng P7+
Xpeng’s recipe is perfect with a modern and aggressive design, an honest technical sheet, and a very low price.
Today, Xpeng officially launched its new electric sedan, the P7+, during its annual Xpeng AI Day in Guangzhou, where its headquarters are located. The big surprise comes from prices significantly lower than initially announced, with an entry-level price of 186,800 yuan, or just over 24,000 euros. This is 11% less than the pre-sale price of 209,800 yuan. Early buyers will appreciate this, and they can’t even reassure themselves by thinking that their car, one of the first deliveries, will have a special value since Xpeng also announced a numbered series in a limited edition of 500 units at 28,800 euros. It’s not always easy to be a pioneer.

The P7+ is a large model, measuring 5,056 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, and 1,512 mm in height. Its generous dimensions allow it to feature a record-breaking wheelbase of 3,000 mm and thus provide top-level interior space. With front seats that recline to 180°, an entertainment screen for rear passengers, and an enormous trunk, it is almost flawless.

The entry-level LFP battery of 60.7 kWh should provide an autonomy close to 500 km, but Xpeng already announces a future OTA update to gain about ten more kilometers. Welcome to a new electric world where everything is moving fast… very fast! A 76.3 kWh battery will soon be offered. According to the manufacturer, the P7+ can charge from 0 to 80% in 20 minutes, which is standard for new models—neither better nor worse—and therefore credible. The model is exclusively offered in rear-wheel drive with two powertrains: a 245 hp (180 kW) unit that allows 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, and a 310 hp (230 kW) unit that reduces this to 5.9 seconds. It is not an electric dragster but a luxurious sedan.

Representatives of the manufacturer in France confirmed at the last Auto Show that this car has European ambitions. Having had the chance to see it during a small shooting at the nearby Parc de Saint Cloud, we can confirm that it is a very elegant design. The technical sheet might seem disappointing when Tesla overwhelms us with thousands of horsepower, 0 to 100 in 2 seconds, and over 600 kilometers of autonomy… but not at this price! Xpeng has chosen reasonable mechanics to keep the cost down, and honestly, it’s a very good choice!
