Ford Mustang Mach-E: Update to Reduce Charging Time

Just over a year after its launch, the Mach-E receives an update.

This reduces the charging time between 80% and 90% by 37 minutes. It now takes 15 minutes to recharge this part.

Ford has also improved the towing capacity. The gain amounts to 250 kilograms. The Mustang Mach-E can now tow a trailer of 1000 kilos. And this applies whether or not it has all-wheel drive.

The update also affects the single-pedal driving function. According to the manufacturer, the changes improve driving sensations at low speed. However, the power of the different versions does not change. After all, this is not really necessary, especially for the Mustang Mach-E GT with its 487 hp.

The battery capacity also remains unchanged: 75.7 kWh for the standard version and 98.8 kWh for the Long Range. In its most favorable configuration for range (rear-wheel drive & large battery), the Mustang Mach-E theoretically can travel 610 km between charges (WLTP cycle).

Other updates coming soon

These updates will not only benefit future Mach-E owners. They can indeed be installed on already circulating units. Subsequently, the Mach-E will continue to evolve gradually throughout its lifecycle. Ford promises many improvements without providing further details.

What is certain is that the Mach-E does not need an update to use Plug & Charge, which will come to the Cupra Born and other VW Group models. With the Mercedes EQS and Porsche Taycan, the American SUV was among the first market models to be compatible with this feature, which greatly facilitates charging.
