Finally a great deal on Dacia Spring for only €89/month!

When Dacia offers its 100% electric Spring for 89 euros per month despite the loss of the Ecological Bonus, it feels like a good deal.

The new generation Dacia Spring is the worthy heir of a model that pioneered the low-cost electric car segment in Europe. A small electric car that is compact, lightweight, practical, underpowered, and affordable. A smart choice, but unlike the first Spring, the new iteration is no longer alone on the market! To make matters worse, this Spring manufactured in China does not benefit from the ecological bonus. It’s not easy, therefore, to compete with its French rivals, such as the Citroën ë-C3 or the upcoming Renault Twingo.

The new Dacia Spring sees its power rise to 48 kW (or 65 horsepower). Enough to tackle city centers daily and consider some suburban escapes. With its small 26 kWh battery, it boasts a range of 225 km in the mixed WLTP cycle. In short, it’s a well-thought-out urban model that shouldn’t be expected to do much more.

The starting price of the Spring is set at 18,900 euros for the well-equipped Expression trim, which includes a 7-inch digital dashboard, manual air conditioning, front electric windows, a multimedia system with steering wheel controls, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. However, the Spring is objectively not a car you buy outright. A low-cost car should be financed to spread the expenses over several years. Hence the appeal of this 89 euros per month offer!

Until September 30, Dacia is offering a Long-Term Rental for 37 months and 30,000 km, the best option in our opinion. The conditions state 36 rental payments of 89 euros, so there’s a first installment that is higher. Unfortunately, before you can take possession of your car, you must pay a deposit of 4,000 euros, which is over 21% of the total value of the vehicle. It’s often said that this is too much, and it’s frustrating because while this offer is somewhat unbalanced in form, it is excellent in substance! If we do the math, by the time you return the car after 3 years, you will have paid only 7,204 euros, or 38% of the new car’s value. That’s significantly less than its depreciation, making it very appealing.

This trend of aggressive advertising with a prominently displayed small monthly payment that conceals a large deposit is a distinctly French issue. Some might call it clickbait. At MG or Tesla, they prefer offers with a reduced or even zero deposit, as they rightly believe the financial constraints should be smoothed out as much as possible. The monthly payments may be higher, but the offers are much more compelling. So why not raise the payment to 149 euros per month, which would bring the deposit down to just 1,840 euros?
