Outdated with the Model 3, Tesla cuts the prices of Model S and X

The price adjustment continues at Tesla with a new staggering decrease in the prices of the Model S and Model X, which are losing momentum.

Not a month goes by without a price drop on the models, whose targets are not being met. To the point that it suggests Tesla is completely at a loss in the face of the shortcomings of its large sedan Model S and its big SUV Model X. Price adjustment, attempt at an entry-level offer (already gone) with a “stupidly” limited battery to compete with the more modern Lucid Air… Tesla’s strategy is questionable and causes concern, as if there were no strategy other than improvisation.

On Friday, September 1, 2023, while the automotive world was watching the new facelifted Model 3, Tesla secretly carried out a staggering price decrease for the Model S and X. The American company had already done the same at the end of July…

Model S: While it was still priced at 106,490 euros in August, the Standard version drops by 11,500 euros… after a 7,000 euro decrease in July. That’s -18,500 euros in two months! The ultra-powerful Model S Plaid follows an even more extreme logic: -30,000 euros in 2 months, with a September decrease of 20,000 euros to settle at 109,990 euros.

Model X: The (too) large SUV is now starting under 100,000 euros, a drop of 13,500 euros compared to August 2023… and 20,000 euros since July. The same applies to the X Plaid version, whose price of 114,990 euros has been adjusted downward by 27,000 euros over the summer.

Tesla seems to be sending the message that both of its vehicles are outdated, or that it needs to clear stock to make room for other upcoming models — like the Tesla Cybertruck — which it is presumably doing the same way.

It remains to be seen whether customers will bite the hook. Apparently not…
