Citroën Unveils Its New ë-C3
This page is translated from the original post "Citroën dévoile sa nouvelle ë-C3" in French.

The French manufacturer has unveiled its new Ë-C3, which will be available from €23,300 before bonuses in the second quarter of 2024.
With the ë-C3, its new compact electric city car, Citroën is making a strong and assertive entry into a highly competitive market currently dominated by the Dacia Spring.
Promising a zero-emission city car for less than €25,000 before ecological bonuses, which equates to around €20,000 in reality, this is not very affordable in practical terms for the average French consumer. However, unlike the Romanian mini car produced in China, the Citroën features a much higher quality finish and offerings worthy of its time. Production will be handled at the Stellantis plant in Trnava, Slovakia, starting from the second quarter of 2024.
Powered by a 44 kWh battery and 113 hp, the ë-C3 offers a range of up to 320 km (WLTP cycle) for a starting price of €18,300 after the deduction of the bonus. It can even go as low as €16,300 if you are eligible for the €7,000 bonus reserved for low-income individuals… and even less if you trade in an older car.
Fast charging via direct current can accept up to 100 kW, allowing 20 to 80% capacity recovery in 26 minutes. For alternating current charging (home or workplace), the power options will be 7 kW (4h10) and 11 kW (2h50). A Type 3 cable will be included as standard.
Acceleration will be modest: 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 135 km/h. Beware of overtaking on the highway! Trip planning will be possible via the newly launched Citroën e-ROUTES app.
Only two trims will be offered to keep things simple for customers: You and Max.
The first trim, “You,” comes equipped with a high level of standard features, including LED headlights, Citroën Advanced Comfort® suspensions, Active Safety Brake (emergency braking system), the new Citroën Head Up Display, My Citroën Play with Smartphone Station for infotainment, electric mirrors, automatic lighting, rear parking aid, a rear spoiler, cruise control with speed limiter, manual air conditioning, and six airbags.
The top-tier “Max” trim adds 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, Biton two-tone paint with a contrasting roof, decorative roof bars, front and rear protective plates, a 10.25-inch color touchscreen with smartphone mirroring, Citroën Advanced Comfort® Seats, automatic wipers, electrically heated and folding exterior mirrors, a leather-effect steering wheel, a 60/40 split-folding second row of seats, adjustable driver’s seat, LED taillights, tinted rear windows, TEP/textile seats, automatic climate control, 3D navigation, wireless charging, a rearview camera, electrochromatic mirror, and electric rear windows.
The all-new ë-C3 will be offered in five distinctive, high-quality paint colors: Glacier White, Monte Carlo Blue, Elixir Red, Mercury Gray, and Perla Nera Black. The popular Biton roof option, iconic to Citroën, will be standard in black or white on the “Max” version, with the separation at the C-pillar perfectly complementing the sharply designed rear line pressed into the sheet metal.
Finally, from 2025, a version with a smaller battery and reduced range of 200 km will be available starting at €19,990 before various bonuses. Ideal for daily commuting!
An innovative design for the ë-C3
The design is different from the previous Citroën C3 model, with a more boxy style and less rounded lines than before. There is a significant new feature at the center of the image: the logo. Citroën reveals its new badge, along with new headlights that will feature LED strips in the shape of rectangles, at least at the front.
In terms of volume and philosophy, it echoes the Oli concept car presented in fall 2022, characterized by vertical glazed surfaces. The dimensions are 4.01 meters long and 1.76 meters wide. Very close to the dimensions of the model it replaces, but with a clear trend towards the SUV concept fashionable today.
The high driving position is sure to appeal to those who like to dominate the road and its obstacles. Citroën emphasizes comfort in suspension and seats.
CONCLUSION
Citroën impresses with this new ë-C3, which offers performance very worthy of an electric car designed and assembled in Europe. Being less expensive than a MG4 and falling below €20,000 after the eco bonus is an achievement worth noting.
It remains to be seen whether the market will be mature enough to be persuaded. One thing is certain: this Citroën ë-C3 comes at just the right time. The Dacia Spring is expected to no longer be eligible for bonuses starting in 2024, which will make the French model the most affordable electric car on the market. All with the quality and arguments of a true premium car.
