The Chinese Nio is positioning itself in Europe

The number of Chinese manufacturers present on the Old Continent is increasing significantly.

Already present in Norway, a country where many Chinese manufacturers are launching their European offensive, Nio is now arriving in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden. France is not currently affected, but the situation could change as early as next year. It seems that recruitment is already underway. An initial announcement has indeed been posted on LinkedIn.

Specialist in electric vehicles, Nio is known for its battery swapping stations. This system, more widespread in the electric two-wheelers universe, virtually eliminates the downtime of a discharged vehicle. Replacing an empty battery with a full one takes only a few minutes.

A Nio Range in Full Expansion

After exclusively focusing on the SUV ES8 (a model comparable to the Tesla Model X), Nio is expanding its offering in Europe. The ET7, a sedan that positions itself as a rival to the Tesla Model S, is currently in the launch phase. The first units are arriving in Europe.

Nio will soon add more affordable vehicles to its catalog. The sedan ET5 and the SUV ES7, both a notch below the ES8 and ET7, are expected to be marketed starting next year.

Nio was founded in 2014. Unlike MG Motor or Seres, this manufacturer is not part of a major automotive group. Since the beginning of the year, it has delivered nearly 240,000 cars worldwide. Europe currently accounts for a relatively small portion of its sales. With 513 cars sold in this region from January to June 2022, Nio is behind BYD, Hongqi, Maxus, Lynk & Co, and MG Motor.
