Chinese Light Show for Tesla

40 Teslas gathered in a shopping artery in Shanghai for a new LightShow.

Since Tesla introduced the very unnecessary and therefore essential LightShow feature in its models, videos have been flooding YouTube and TikTok. Obviously, there is good content and much less good, but some are worth watching.

This new video shared by Xu Wa was filmed in Shanghai and shows 40 cars performing an impeccable ballet under the baton of two Model Y. It might be the first time that two cars set the pace for the others, and the effect is truly impressive.

The wow effect is inevitably less pronounced than when the feature was first launched on the Model Y alone, but the technological feat is real. The cars manage the entire commands themselves without any human intervention. A simple programming shared via USB key and that’s it. The synchronization then takes place directly between the cars.

Again, it’s pointless and we’ll quickly get tired of it, but as we often hear in the corridors of major contemporary art fairs like FIAC in Paris: “No one did it before, that’s what gives it such value.”
