With a €2500 discount, the Ford Capri becomes eligible for the bonus!

By positioning itself below the 47,000 euro mark, the Ford Capri lowers its price by a whopping 6,500 euros!

Beware of your friends! This is somewhat the message to take away for Volkswagen, which, by sharing the technical platform of its ID.4 and ID.5 (but also Audi, Skoda, Cupra, etc.) with Ford, has allowed a wolf to enter the sheepfold.

We have already expressed our concern about the fierce commercial competition that Ford was facing with its new Explorer, which is nothing more than a Volkswagen ID.4 restyled and with an interior interface adapted to the Ford universe. A copy-paste technical sheet, but at significantly lower prices. This forced the German manufacturer to adjust its prices downwards.

But today, Ford is stepping up by making a decision full of common sense: to reposition its new electric Capri, making it more appealing than the Volkswagen ID.5, under the critical threshold of 47,000 euros. Why? To make it eligible for the ecological bonus, of course! That’s a minimum of 4,000 euros off the bill, and up to 8,500 euros with the 7,000-euro bonus for low-income earners and a 1,500-euro conversion premium for an old polluting vehicle.

The Ford Capri not finished?

By implementing this price adjustment of 2,500 euros, Ford writes a great narrative: one of a commercial gesture to generate interest, followed by a significant price drop due to the bonus. From 49,400 euros, the Ford Capri thus mechanically drops to a minimum of 42,900 euros. Even below the 40,000 euros mark with all the tax boxes checked.

Problem: self-competition now exists within Ford’s offerings with the Explorer. The solution? To also discount the Explorer, which is still not delivered to dealerships, by 1,500 euros. Thus discounted, the Ford Explorer now starts at 40,400 euros at minimum thanks to the ecological bonus.

And something tells us that this is just the beginning of promotions at Ford, which must carve its place in the market after arriving late.
