BMW i5 electric 2025

The introduction of various new technical innovations helps to reduce electricity consumption of the BMW i5 Sedan and i5 Touring.

There are multiple ways to increase the range of an electric car. But people tend to think that small streams make big rivers. Thus, BMW has not focused on a single major evolution to drastically boost the range of its i5 sedan and station wagon, but rather on an accumulation of updates.

To extend the range of its 100% electric i5s by up to 47 km, BMW has worked on new materials, among other things. For the first time, some semiconductors now use silicon carbide in their power electronics. Additionally, new tires with lower rolling resistance are now mounted on more aerodynamic rims. Furthermore, new wheel bearings that consume even less energy during rotation are introduced.

For the BMW i5 eDrive40 (340 horsepower and a usable 81.2 kWh battery), consumption drops from 18.7 to 17.9 kWh/100 km, a decrease of approximately 4.3%. This will comfortably allow it to exceed 600 km in mixed cycle (about 629 km).

Better Inside and Outside

For the xDrive all-wheel-drive versions (394 horsepower), BMW even claims that the reduction in consumption reaches, depending on the configuration, up to 8%, or even 9% for the Touring version.

As for the BMW i5 M60 xDrive version with 601 horsepower, its consumption decreases from 20.5 to 19.5 kWh/100 km.

Finally, the 2025 model year BMW i5s, delivered starting March, will benefit from interior improvements. All versions will feature ambient lighting with crystalline surface, previously optional. The front seats include lumbar support, and the Harman Kardon Hi-Fi system comes standard.

Regarding prices, it should at least hover around 77,000 euros for the entry-level model.
