At the same price, would you prefer gasoline or electric for your Citroën C3?

This is unprecedented, Citroën announces the gasoline and electric versions of its new C3 at nearly the same price!

Citroën proudly announces that electric vehicles are no longer reserved for the elites! Thus, the new ë-C3 aims to allow everyone to enjoy the pleasure of electric driving starting at €14,800. We will detail this price, but first, let’s note that the new C3 is also available with the PureTech 100hp thermal engine starting at €14,990. Just a €190 difference, does this mean that from today on, electric cars are not more expensive than their thermal counterparts, or even cheaper in the case of the Citroën C3? Check the Citroën configurator to find out for sure.

The Citroën ë-C3 100% electric in the entry-level YOU trim is listed at… €23,300? There must be a problem because we are far from the announced price. A quick glance at the small print at the bottom of the page clarifies everything. The new ë-C3 YOU electric 113 hp is indeed at €14,800, excluding options, but only after deducting the €4,000 bonus available to all individual buyers, as well as the €3,000 increase accessible only to the most modest households and the €1,500 conversion bonus if you scrap an old vehicle! (conditions decree 2024-102 of February 12, 2024).

For the C3 gasoline, however, there are no special conditions with a price of €14,990 for the YOU version with a manual gearbox.

The comparison becomes a bit complicated since a “normal” driver, not falling into the low-income category and without a car to return, must choose between an ë-C3 electric at €19,300, after deducting the €4,000 bonus, and a C3 gasoline at €14,990. Both cars are offered in the same well-equipped YOU trim, with a nearly similar power output of 100 hp for the thermal and 113 hp for the electric. We thus find ourselves at the same conclusion as usual. For urban use, the ë-C3 is perfect with its 320 km range and will recoup its extra cost in use thanks to savings at the pump. For high-mileage drivers or those in rural areas, the thermal option is a more reasonable and less risky choice. Unfortunately, nothing new here…
