The Amazing Hyundai IONIQ 5 Off-Road!
Hyundai seems to have found an endless source of fun and experimentation with the all-electric IONIQ 5.
Hyundai’s designers and engineers are definitely very lucky. While their counterparts at other manufacturers occasionally get a breather with a concept car at a motor show, they can do whatever they want with a high-volume model. Thus, after the sporty IONIQ 5 N, the powerful IONIQ 5 N NPX1 and the diabolical IONIQ 5 N TA Spec, here comes the off-road version IONIQ 5 XRT. And we won’t forget about the IONIQ 5 eN1 Cup competition car, the limited Disney edition with Mickey Mouse ear rims, and the MOBIS version that drives sideways… In fact, all that’s missing is a fully equipped version with 600 horsepower, a range of 1,000 km, recharge from 20 to 80% in 2 minutes, priced under 10,000 euros with a Mars bar as a gift! How about it?

But enough joking around, this off-road XRT version is very serious. It slots into the range between the standard model and the high-performance IONIQ 5 N. According to the Korean manufacturer, it has been designed to appeal to customers who want to enjoy fully electric adventures without worrying about the terrain. A nice promise! It will, of course, be equipped with two motors for all-wheel drive. The IONIQ 5 XRT features a more aggressive front and rear design with reinforced composite bumpers and dedicated 18-inch aluminum wheels. The ground clearance is higher than that of the base model to increase the approach angle, and front and rear hooks provide a towing capacity of 2.6 tons.

The interior of the vehicle doesn’t lag behind either, featuring H-Te seat coverings that are resistant to water, dust, and acid (you never know…). The entire cabin showcases XRT emblems and logos scattered from the seats to the steering wheel, including the dashboard. A black headliner completes the impressive look, even if it’s not exactly elegant.

The model is currently announced only for the American market, but the same was true for the sporty N version when it was presented. So there is a bit of hope to see it take on the Parisian sidewalks!
