A 10,200 Euro N Line Edition to Relaunch the Hyundai Ioniq 5?

Sometimes a good leveling up can boost car sales, but Hyundai may have gone a bit too far.

The Hyundai range features a facelifted version of the IONIQ 5 and a new N Line trim that comes with many innovative features and several stylistic evolutions. This “sportified” version of the IONIQ 5 inherits a larger capacity battery, increasing from 77 kWh to 84 kWh, thus enhancing its range.

The sporty IONIQ 5 N Line is positioned between the facelifted base model and the high-performance IONIQ 5 N variant. The N Line trim offers a distinctly sporty style characterized by a sharper and more dynamic front and rear design. The IONIQ 5 N Line is also equipped with exclusive bumpers, side skirts, and specific 20-inch aluminum wheels that enhance its sporty personality.

Hyundai seeks compromise

The interior is distinguished by a specific N Line steering wheel and dashboard, exclusive metallic pedal covers, a black headliner, dedicated sports seats embossed with the N logo, contrasting red stitching, and a leather and Alcantara upholstery.

But all of this comes at a cost. When the entry-level IONIQ 5 in Intuitive trim with an 84 kWh battery is priced at 48,800 euros, this N Line trim is priced at 59,000 euros. That’s 10,200 euros just for the looks since the technical base is strictly identical. This is obviously a lot and might deter customers looking for the right balance between features and prices. However, one could argue that for 59,000 euros you get a car that looks like the sporty IONIQ 5 N priced at 78,000 euros! So if you want a car with a sporty style but couldn’t care less about having something powerful for every toll and are indifferent to the sight of a racetrack, this model may appeal to you. It’s all a matter of perspective and, above all, expectations.
