Even if a car is excellent, a price poorly adjusted to the market can turn a promising model into a failure, and this applies even to a strong brand like Honda. Too accustomed to the easy successes of its thermal and hybrid models, the Japanese manufacturer seems to have underestimated the specifics of the 100% electric market. Against players like Tesla, BYD, or MG, it’s no longer enough to have a decent product: one must aim for excellence and offer very competitive prices.

The Honda e:Ny1, a 100% electric SUV, offers appealing features: a 68 kWh battery for a range of 412 km, 204 horsepower under the hood, a complete suite of driver assistance systems (ADAS), and finishes worthy of the Honda reputation. All of this is undeniably pleasant, but it remains insufficient to compete with Teslas that exceed 600 km of range, especially when priced considerably higher. Indeed, that was precisely the problem: with a list price 10,000 euros above the competition, the e:Ny1 struggled to convince.

A timely promotion

However, Honda seems to have recognized the challenge and hits hard with an exceptional promotion. The entire range benefits from a massive discount of 12,800 euros! Such a reduction is rare, especially all at once. This places the entry-level model in Executive trim at 32,900 euros.

At this price, the e:Ny1 suddenly becomes much more competitive. Rather than an emerging Chinese brand, you get a Japanese SUV boasting impeccable finishes and the solid Honda network, globally recognized for its efficiency. An enticing offer for a car nearing the end of its lifecycle, but let’s be realistic: dealers are likely to have an even larger negotiation margin.

In short, prepare to see more and more Honda e:Ny1 on our roads. As for remembering its name, no one is obliged to the impossible…
