The Opel Corsa, a star at home

The Opel Corsa successfully defended its title as the most popular small car in Germany.

According to official data published by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), the Corsa was the best-selling B-segment vehicle in 2023 for the third consecutive year. With nearly 54,000 new registrations, the small car from Rüsselsheim took the top spot in its segment. This represents an increase of about 7% compared to 2022. Registrations thus reached their highest level since 2016. As evidence of market evolution, according to initial data, one in four newly registered Corsas was 100% electric.

In the United Kingdom, the Corsa remains just as popular, remaining the best-selling supermini for the third consecutive year, according to new car registration figures for 2023 published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Let’s recall that in Great Britain, the car traditionally bears the Vauxhall badge rather than Opel. With 40,816 units sold, the Corsa was also the third best-selling car in the country. It surpasses the second in its segment by more than 55%.

In France as well, the Corsa recorded excellent results with registrations increasing by 32% to reach 19,602 units. These performances are largely supported by the Corsa Electric, whose registrations are up 65% year-over-year. One in five Corsas sold in France is an electric version.

Since its launch in 1982, over 14.5 million units of the Corsa have been sold worldwide. Last year, Opel launched a new evolution of its best-seller, featuring the characteristic Opel Vizor grille, an even more intuitive cockpit design, the new Intelli-Lux LED matrix lighting, and many other cutting-edge technologies.
