A Bugatti Not to Touch!

Bugatti Mistral eErle rare

This is undoubtedly one of the most elegant Bugattis ever crafted… but it might be wise to avoid supermarket gravel.

In Molsheim, Bugatti concludes the chapter of its legendary W16 engine with a creation that flirts with automotive artistry: the Bugatti W16 Mistral “The Rare Gem”. A name that sets the tone—literally.

This roadster, the ultimate open-top version of the W16 era, becomes a unique piece thanks to the Sur Mesure personalization program. The story begins at Pebble Beach, during a meeting between the client and Jascha Straub, head of individualization projects. Very quickly, the ambition is clear: to enhance the already spectacular lines of the Mistral with a more sculptural, almost jewel-like approach.

A Bugatti is not just any car

The result? An unprecedented two-tone composition, blending a warm gold for the upper surfaces with a refined white enveloping the lower part. Two shades developed especially for this model, after months of research and adjustments. The white and gold lines, drawn and masked by hand, required hundreds of hours of work. Here, painting becomes a patient, almost meditative art.

The diamond-cut wheels extend this dialogue between light and material, while the signature “The Rare Gem,” handwritten, makes its way into embroidery, engraving, and even under the rear spoiler. A nod to history, the famous dancing elephant of Rembrandt Bugatti adorns the gear lever and the rear panels, reminding us that luxury at Bugatti is also a matter of memory.

Inside, the carbon is painted white, polished aluminum inserts play with the light, and warm ambient lighting enhances the pearlescent atmosphere. It is sumptuous, technologically dazzling, and remarkably cohesive.

But let’s face it: in the presence of such purity, one can almost imagine a sign saying “please do not touch.” This Mistral is not just a hypercar. It’s a rolling work of art. Magnificent, exclusive… and perhaps a bit prone to getting dirty in everyday life.
