BMW iX1: More powerful than its rivals, also more expensive

With a price below €60,000, the BMW iX1 is eligible for a €2,000 eco bonus.
The compact electric SUV segment welcomes a new entrant: the BMW iX1. Introduced in June 2022, this model is now available for order. Prices start at €55,150, with a €2,000 bonus not yet deducted.
With a length of 4.5 meters, the BMW iX1 positions itself as a rival to the Mercedes EQA and the Audi Q4 e-tron. Its two electric motors — one on each axle — enable all-wheel drive. Combined, they produce up to 313 hp and 494 Nm of torque. In terms of performance, BMW claims a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 5.7 seconds.
The two motors of the iX1 are powered by a 64.7 kWh battery, which theoretically allows for a range of 438 km on a full charge (WLTP cycle). However, note that some optional equipment can negatively impact the range. In the worst case, it may drop to 413 km. The maximum charging power reaches up to 130 kW via direct current.
Currently, the offer is limited to a single version, which can be ordered on BMW’s website with a €100 deposit. In addition to outright purchase, the German manufacturer also offers a long-term leasing option at €590 per month. The list of standard equipment has not yet been announced.
Less powerful rivals but with greater range
With an initial price of €55,150, the BMW iX1 is slightly cheaper than the base Mercedes EQA, which costs €55,750. Less powerful (190 hp) and slightly slower in the 0 to 100 km/h sprint (8.6 seconds), this competing model, on the other hand, offers better range (up to 529 km).
The Audi Q4 e-tron, meanwhile, is more affordable, with an entry-level price of €52,900. Like the Mercedes EQA, it offers higher range (up to 517 km) but suffers from lower power (204 hp) compared to the iX1.
