BYD Shark

A plug-in hybrid city car, a massive pickup, and a still-secret model: BYD is preparing a busy program for the 2026 Paris Motor Show. With promised offers across France.

BYD is not coming to Paris just to showcase its cars. Located in Hall 6, the Chinese manufacturer will unveil a new model on Monday, October 12, during its press conference. Its identity remains unknown, but two other new models are already setting the tone for this offensive.

The most strategic is called Dolphin G DM-i. Marketed as the first BYD specifically developed for Europe, this plug-in hybrid city car boasts a trunk of 425 liters and an electric range of up to 109 kilometers. The combined range reaches 1,040 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. This aims at drivers who want to use electric power daily while keeping an internal combustion engine for long trips.

BYD wants to democratize the pickup

Scaling up with the Shark: this 5.46-meter pickup combines all-wheel drive and a plug-in hybrid powertrain with 436 horsepower. BYD claims an electric range of up to 90 kilometers, a towing capacity of 2,500 kg, and a payload of 790 kg. A vehicle designed for uses quite different from the Dolphin.

The electric range will also be represented, particularly by the Dolphin Surf now offered with five seats, the Atto 3 Evo, the Seal, and the Sealion 7. The second-generation Blade battery will be among the showcased technologies.

But the most tangible incentive for buyers might be commercial. Under the name “BYD Bonus,” the brand announces €3,800 off the Dolphin Surf Active five-seater, €3,150 off the Atto 2 DM-i, €6,800 off the Seal U DM-i, and up to €7,550 off the Seal 6 DM-i.
