Range Rover goes electric: 600 km range and 550 hp, but at what cost!

Electric Range Rover

This is a small revolution for Range Rover. On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the British manufacturer officially unveils its first 100% electric model and opens orders.

After several years of waiting, the Range Rover Electric is finally a reality. And externally, it’s hard to talk about a revolution. The manufacturer has deliberately preserved the design of its flagship vehicle while reworking the aerodynamics. The idea is clear: to first offer a Range Rover before highlighting its electric powertrain.

Under this imposing bodywork, two electric motors produce a combined 550 hp and 850 Nm of torque. The 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is stated to be just 4.3 seconds, delivering performance worthy of a powerful V8.

Nearly 600 km of range

To power the system, Range Rover has opted for a massive 118.5 kWh usable lithium-ion battery. It is expected to offer up to 372 miles according to the WLTP cycle, or approximately 599 km of range. The manufacturer also estimates a real-world range of about 535 km.

The 800-volt architecture allows for a charging power of up to 350 kW. On a suitable charger, transitioning from 10% to 80% would take 22 minutes, while ten minutes would recover about 220 km.

But a Range Rover cannot obviously just be content with speed and distance on the highway. The electric all-wheel drive benefits from traction management that can react in just 50 milliseconds. The Range Rover Electric also retains an impressive wading capability of 90 cm.

Produced in Solihull, England, the first electric Range Rover is available for order starting today. In the UK, its price starts at £154,070. Its price for France is yet to be specified.

After luxury, the V8, and off-road capabilities, Range Rover is officially entering the era of 100% electric. Without wanting to, above all, change the recipe.
