The Skoda Peaq put to the test at the 2026 Tour de France

The Tour de France 2026 will serve as an exceptional showcase for the new Skoda Peaq, chosen as the official car of race director Christian Prudhomme.

A few days before the Grand Depart of the Tour de France 2026 in Barcelona, Skoda is taking advantage of the event to highlight its all-new electric SUV. Named Peaq, this novel model will not only be displayed on the roads of the Grande Boucle: it will become the famous “red car” of Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France, for more than half of the race.

From July 4 to 26, the Skoda Peaq will accompany the race’s director on 12 of the 21 stages. As a true mobile command center, this iconic car allows Christian Prudhomme to closely follow the peloton, communicate with the officials, and oversee the progress of each stage. On the other nine days, he will take the wheel of a Skoda Superb iV plug-in hybrid.

Skoda at the Heart of the Tour de France

The Tour de France 2026 also marks the first major public appearance of the Skoda Peaq and the upcoming Epiq urban electric SUV. With these two innovations, the Czech car manufacturer continues to expand its 100% electric range, which will now span from small urban SUVs to large family models with seven seats.

Official partner of the Tour de France for 23 years, Skoda will this year provide up to 225 electrified vehicles, composed of electric and plug-in hybrid models. This fleet is essential for the organization of the event, which has become one of the symbols of the Tour over the years.

The brand also remains the historic sponsor of the green jersey and once again produces the trophies awarded to the victors of the main classifications. Their design adopts this year the new stylistic language Modern Solid, which will accompany future models of the manufacturer.

Originally a bicycle manufacturer in 1895, Skoda has a historical connection with cycling. By making the Skoda Peaq the official car of the Tour de France 2026, the brand offers its new electric SUV exceptional global exposure. Over more than 3,300 kilometers and 54,450 meters of elevation gain, it will be one of the most observed vehicles in the world’s largest cycling race.
