BYD Atto 2 hybrid

With its plug-in hybrid technology and aggressive pricing, the BYD ATTO 2 DM-i aims to disrupt the compact electrified SUV market.

The Chinese manufacturer BYD is accelerating its push into the European market with the launch of the new ATTO 2 DM-i, a compact plug-in hybrid SUV designed to make electrified technology more accessible. Already very active in the electric vehicle segment, BYD is now betting on its “Super Hybrid” plug-in hybrid system to attract motorists who are still hesitant about fully electric vehicles.

Priced around 30,000 euros, the BYD ATTO 2 DM-i positions itself among the most affordable plug-in hybrid SUVs in its category. Two versions will be offered: Active and Boost. Both combine a 1.5-liter Xiaoyun gasoline engine with an electric motor, with respective powers of 165 hp and 212 hp.

The electric vehicle in the spotlight

The main argument for the BYD hybrid SUV remains its range. The Active version claims up to 928 kilometers in combined cycle, while the Boost version reaches nearly 1,000 kilometers. The latter can also travel up to 150 kilometers in 100% electric mode thanks to its 18 kWh battery, which is particularly high for an urban plug-in hybrid SUV.

The BYD ATTO 2 DM-i also boasts impressive technological features. Standard equipment includes a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen compatible with Google Automotive Services, featuring integrated Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also included.
