McLaren MCL-HY GTR: The Spirit of Le Mans, with Added Freedom

The return of McLaren to the top of global endurance comes with an unprecedented customer approach.

From 2027, the McLaren MCL-HY will compete in the top category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This hybrid Hypercar, designed to face the biggest manufacturers, is the technological flagship of the brand. It is on this basis of pure competition that McLaren has envisioned its “civilian” version: the MCL-HY GTR.

A philosophy of technical purity

While the race version is a marvel of hybrid engineering constrained by strict regulations, the MCL-HY GTR chooses a different path: that of total freedom. For this track-exclusive version, McLaren made the radical decision to eliminate the LMDh hybrid system.

This lack of electrification allows for a drastic reduction in the weight of the car and simplifies handling and operating costs. Unbound by regulatory restraints, its 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 produces 730 hp. The result is a lighter, more agile machine that offers a more direct connection between the driver and the track, while simplifying maintenance for the owner.

Project: Endurance: The club of insiders

The MCL-HY GTR is not just a vehicle; it is the gateway to Project: Endurance. This ultra-exclusive program offers VIP customers an unprecedented immersion in McLaren’s Le Mans adventure:

• Behind-the-scenes access: Owners follow the development of the race car starting in 2026 and experience the 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans from the inside.
• Arrive-and-Drive service: A program of six events over two years where everything is taken care of: track engineers, dedicated mechanics team, and professional coaching.
