MG announces a big electric car at a low price

MG is gradually lifting the veil on its upcoming 100% electric sedan with lines reminiscent of a well-known model.

The first teaser spotted by ITHome reveals a dynamic coupe silhouette, semi-hidden door handles, and, most importantly, a lidar mounted on the roof, indicating that the vehicle might incorporate advanced driver assistance systems or autonomous driving capabilities.

Although MG has not released any information regarding the powertrain, range, or pricing for this new model, the design strongly resembles the thermal MG7. This similarity suggests it could be an electric version of the already popular sedan. In 2023, we already mentioned at Mobiwisy the tremendous potential of the MG7 in Europe, thanks to an unprecedented pricing strategy: at under 16,000 euros for the base version, the MG7 could have become one of the most attractive sedans on the European market.

MG has a wide open road

As a reminder, the current thermal MG7 offers two engines: a 1.5-liter 188 hp engine with a 7DCT transmission and a 2.0-liter 261 hp engine with a 9-speed gearbox, all in a fastback body that is nearly 4.9m long. The interior combines sportiness and comfort, featuring two digital displays, a Bose audio system, and sporty front seats.

This upcoming electric model is part of MG’s strategy to expand its zero-emission lineup in Europe and Asia, following the success of models like the MG4. By combining a sporty design, cutting-edge technologies, and competitive pricing, MG could attract a European clientele looking for an accessible and innovative electric sedan.
