Porsche Carrera GT: the supercar is reborn in “Salzburg Design”

A Puerto Rican collector got his 2005 Carrera GT fully restored and customized by Porsche.

This unique project, combining technical restoration and historical homage, transforms the legendary supercar into a “zero-mileage” model, adopting the legendary red and white livery of the 1970 Le Mans-winning Porsche 917, known as “Salzburg Design”.

The restoration was total. The Carrera GT was completely disassembled, and its V10 engine and all carbon pieces were overhauled and recoated. Each component was meticulously refurbished to achieve a condition close to that of a factory new car. Then, the iconic livery was adapted to the modern lines of the Carrera GT, a technical challenge due to the different dimensions compared to the original 917. Porsche designers first worked on sketches and digital renderings, then tested the line layout with tape before the final paint. The result: a bright Indian red and white, completed with the famous number 23 and protected by a clear film for safe road use.

The Essence of Porsche

Inside, the Carrera GT was also transformed according to the wishes of its owner, Victor Gómez. Indian red Alcantara covers the dashboard, doors, steering wheel, and center console, while matte carbon elegantly contrasts on the seats, vents, and panels. The seats incorporate FIA black textile inspired by the 918 Spyder, ensuring safety and sporty aesthetics.

This restoration is part of Porsche’s exclusive “Factory Re-Commission” program, which allows a vehicle to be returned to a “zero-mileage” state while customizing colors and materials according to the owner’s desires. Each modification is documented and archived by Porsche, ensuring traceability and quality.
