Geopost Vision revolutionizes street imagery collection!
Geopost announces the launch of Geopost Vision, its new subsidiary dedicated to street imagery collection.
Every day, Geopost’s delivery vehicles, a subsidiary of the La Poste group, travel across Europe, traversing cities, villages, and countryside. 65,000 active observers monitor the evolution of roads and the overall environment. With the launch of Geopost Vision, these daily journeys become a valuable source of geospatial data. The aim is to provide up-to-date information on roads, infrastructure, and mobility to support mapping, driver assistance systems, and smart cities. A simple concept, almost obvious, but it was still necessary to turn it into technological reality!
To achieve this, several thousand vehicles from the DPD, SEUR, BRT, and Chronopost subsidiaries have been equipped with state-of-the-art onboard cameras. These cameras continuously capture anonymized images in compliance with GDPR, covering all types of environments, both urban and rural. Every delivery route thus becomes an opportunity to better understand the evolution of the European landscape while ensuring privacy: faces and license plates are systematically blurred, and images are never made public.

This data is then made available to Geopost Vision clients via secure APIs. For example, it allows for map updates, monitoring road conditions, enhancing autonomous mobility, or supporting urban planning. Currently active in 11 European countries, the service is expected to expand to 10 more countries by mid-2026, thus consolidating a unique pan-European coverage.
Valuable Data
Martin Calmels, CEO of Geopost Vision, summarizes the vision behind this project: “By leveraging Geopost’s unique delivery network and state-of-the-art onboard camera technology, we are building the most up-to-date and scalable street imagery platform in Europe, providing GDPR-compliant data capable of enhancing navigation, road safety, and the quality of urban infrastructure.”
