Price, Range, and Features: Does the Electric Twingo Live Up to All Its Promises?

Comment
Renault Twingo

City car, electric and full of charm, the Twingo returns for 2026 with a style that undeniably brings a smile.

Renault once again bets on retro-modern with the Twingo E-Tech Electric. After the success of the Renault 4 and 5 electric models, the diamond brand revives this urban icon, discontinued last year, to create a small electric vehicle that is both accessible and appealing.

The new Twingo draws directly from the spirit of the original model (1992-2012): round headlights, horizontal grille, triple vents on the hood, and a frog-like style all nod to the past. The four doors replace the two of yesteryear, but the tilting rear windows recall the rear-engine Twingo of 2014. Compact yet well defined, it measures 3.79 m long and retains an ideal size for the city. 16-inch wheels come standard, while 18-inch wheels add an extra touch of style.

Inside, modernity and practicality

The interior mixes technology with historical references. A 7-inch digital cluster and a 10-inch central screen bring modernity, while the exterior colors extend onto the trim and some controls remain physical for comfort. Space is optimized thanks to sliding rear seats and a foldable front passenger seat, offering a modular trunk ranging from 360 to 1,000 liters.

A Twingo made for the city

Under the hood, the Twingo remains simple but efficient: an 80 hp motor, 175 Nm of torque, 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds, and a top speed of 130 km/h. The 27.5 kWh battery offers 263 km of WLTP range, and the optional 50 kW DC fast charging enables charging from 10 to 80% in half an hour. It supports 11 kW AC charging, which is sufficient for daily use with a charging station at work or at home.

Produced in Slovenia, the Twingo E-Tech Electric will be available in early 2026 for under €20,000 in Europe, before incentives. With its retro-chic style, urban agility, and attractive price, it positions itself against the Fiat 500e and the BYD Dolphin Surf, while relegating the Dacia Spring. The Volkswagen ID.1 will not arrive until 2027.
