Two weeks after McLaren’s triumph in the Constructors’ Championship at Marina Bay, Formula 1 crosses the Atlantic for the United States Grand Prix, the nineteenth race of a season more competitive than ever. On the spectacular Circuit of the Americas in Austin, the gaps at the top of the overall standings are narrowing, and the tension is rising as the season’s end approaches. Winner here last year, Charles Leclerc hopes to bounce back after a tough weekend in Singapore.

If McLaren has already secured the Constructors’ title, the battle for the Drivers’ crown remains open. Max Verstappen, frustrated with his performance on the Asian island, will try to regain ground to keep a chance of claiming a fifth consecutive title. However, the Dutch driver will have to contend with the Papaya Armada. The two McLaren drivers, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, are determined not to give him a moment’s respite. Norris, in particular, aims to close the gap with his teammate. With 33 potential points up for grabs over the weekend between the Sprint and the main race, the Texan event could reshuffle the cards.

After an eventful Singapore Grand Prix marked by internal tensions, Zak Brown’s men will need to work closely together to counter the Red Bull threat. Neither Norris nor Piastri has yet won at Austin, unlike Verstappen, who is already a three-time winner in Texas.

Starting Grid and TV Schedule for the Singapore F1 Grand Prix

The American circuit still holds many surprises. Since the race’s inception in 2012, the pole position has only translated into victory five times. Even more surprisingly, no pole-sitter has stepped on the podium in the last three years. In 2024, Lando Norris could only manage a fourth place, while Verstappen, who started sixth in 2023, made an impressive comeback to win. This promises another unpredictable weekend in Austin.
