Eco-friendly bonus: new stricter rules

Recipients of purchase assistance must now keep their vehicle longer before considering resale.

The government has just modified the allocation methods for the bonus, the conversion premium, and the retrofit premium. The decree confirming these changes was published in the official journal on April 27.

To prevent certain abuses, the government has decided to extend the minimum ownership period after receiving one of the three aid mentioned in the preamble. From now on, the vehicle must be kept for at least one year before resale can be considered. Previously, six months was sufficient.

In addition to this time constraint, the state also requires a minimum distance traveled before resale: 6,000 km for a passenger car or van; 2,000 km for a two-wheeler, three-wheeler, or powered quadricycle; 40,000 kilometers for heavy trucks and buses.

The bonus also applies to tourist trains

The decree also announces the expansion of the bonus to small tourist road trains. These are defined as “a set of vehicles consisting of a tractor vehicle equipped with a mileage counter and trailers”, used on public roads for tourist activities or commercial operations. Here too, resale is only possible one year after the vehicle’s registration. Additionally, at least 10,000 km must have been traveled.

The retrofit premium extended to other categories of vehicles

The decree also expands the electric retrofit premium. Previously reserved for cars and vans, it is now extended to the category of two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and powered quadricycles, as well as heavy vehicles. The tractors of small tourist road trains can also benefit from it.

Finally, there is news regarding the bike bonus. The decree introduces an identification requirement for eligible electric bikes and trailers.
