Paris Motor Show 2022: Request the Schedule!

The great Paris motor show is back after four years of absence. It will be held from October 18 to 23, 2022. Here are the expected models.

Absent since 2018 from Porte de Versailles in Paris, the traditional Paris Motor Show was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A sad news for all enthusiasts of beautiful cars and new mobility solutions. As a reminder, the previous edition of the French Big Event attracted over one million visitors thanks to the presence of many European and Asian manufacturers.

You have probably heard from various media that the Paris Motor Show 2022 will feature far fewer exhibitors than in the past. Mainly due to costs, but also strategic choices favoring emerging markets that are more dynamic, German, Japanese, and Korean manufacturers will be absent from Paris. Fortunately, French brands (Citroën excepted) will play the game and will be fully present.

French Brands

Revived in 2018, the French small sports car brand Alpine (owned by Renault Group) will present a concept car of an electric racing car called Alpenglow.

From Dacia, alongside the now well-known 100% electric city car Spring, the Franco-Romanian brand will showcase its first Full Hybrid model. It’s the Dacia Jogger Hybrid, an affordable family model.

To compensate for Citroën’s absence, its high-end division DS Automobiles will present numerous new models, beginning with its restyled DS3 Electric, which gains power and autonomy, as well as the DS4 sedan. At the top of the range, the DS7 SUV will also be available, with increased range in hybrid version, and the DS9 limousine that moves further upmarket.

Still little known to the general public, Mobilize (Renault Group) will present the successor to the Renault Twizy. Named Mobilize Duo, it will offer up to 140 km of electric range. It will be complemented by a second model called Mobilize Solo, an intriguing electric vehicle for urbanites who crave originality.

At Peugeot, the biggest attraction and one of the stars of this year’s end will undoubtedly be the Peugeot 408, a sedan with SUV accents, equipped with two PHEV plug-in hybrid engines. In the electric sphere, attention will be on the Peugeot e-208 with improved range and the e-308, which will steal the show. Not to mention the electric utility vehicles e-Rifter and e-Traveller.

Last but not least, Renault will come to the Paris Motor Show with many new models. The main attraction will undoubtedly be the upcoming Renault 4 or the 4L electric, which should democratize access to this energy for the general public. It will be supported by the star of compact vans, the Renault Kangoo, also available in a 100% electric E-Tech version, as well as the all-new Renault Austral, the full hybrid SUV rival to the Peugeot 3008. Among the highly anticipated concept cars is the modern reinterpretation of the Renault 5, with the Renault 5 TURBO 3E concept, as well as the Hippie Caviar Motel and the Scénic Vision.

American Brands

True to auto shows, the American Jeep (now owned by Stellantis) is undergoing a transformation. While the US and Middle Eastern markets stick to V6 and V8 combustion engines, Europe is favoring electrified models. This is also evidenced by the new Jeep Avenger, which will be the sole attraction of the American brand. This urban SUV is offered in a 100% electric version and shares components with the DS3, Opel e-Mokka, and Peugeot e-2008.

Much less known here, the other American Fisker is making a return to France with a new SUV Fisker Ocean, which has seen great success across the Atlantic.

Chinese Brands

This is the major feature of the 2022 Paris Motor Show—the significant presence of Chinese manufacturers, with a host of new models, mostly electrified.

The group BYD, poised to become a major player in the French market, is a giant in China. It will present no fewer than three new electric models here: two SUVs called BYD ATTO 3 and BYD TANG, as well as a sedan BYD HAN.

Another key player in the Chinese automotive scene, Great Wall Motors, is highly anticipated with its sleek compact electric sedan, called Ora Funky Cat, and a large, luxurious SUV named Wey Coffee 01.

DFSK and Dongfeng will also showcase their compact electric SUVs: Seres 3 and perhaps their premium model Seres 5.

A Vietnamese Brand

Founded in 2018 in Hanoi, Vietnam, Vinfast is a brand that is gaining momentum. The Asian manufacturer will present no fewer than four new models at the 2022 Paris Motor Show: the VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9.
