Peugeot Inception: The Electrifying Revival at CES 2023
This page is translated from the original post "Peugeot Inception : le renouveau électrisant au CES 2023" in French.

It is far from home that the Peugeot Inception concept introduces a new aesthetic era, but above all the brand’s new electric generation.
At Peugeot, the concept car is a tradition. But like most automotive manufacturers, our modern times demand a certain pragmatism. These vehicles are no longer free, meant for dreaming but instead mark a turning point for the brand. Here, the letter of intent is called Peugeot Inception.
A futuristic and feline Peugeot Inception
This new concept car comes after the renewal of the logo and new communication. What was missing was the design of the cars. This is the work of Inception, which breaks away from angular bodies, begun 11 years ago with the Onyx concept. Here, still a sign of realism, it’s not a supercar but a sedan that previews future Peugeots arriving by 2026.
The design is further defined with three vertical stripes for headlights, resembling BMW and its i Vision Dee Concept. The lights are more assertive and imposing than those of the Germans, signaling a “Feline Future” signature. The fangs at the extremities contrast with the sleek shoulders and hips, while still being muscular. They return to the historic lion emblem, proudly adorning the prow of the Peugeot Inception.
A future Peugeot e-508 in the background for 2026?
But the Peugeot Inception is also an electric car showing what the brand promises by 2030. Its STLA Medium platform will very likely underpin the future e-508, which will probably share traits with the concept. Linda Jackson, the manufacturer’s CEO, promises 800 kilometers per charge via 100 kWh batteries. This is made possible by a new generation of solid-state batteries designed with Factorial, with a density 30% higher than today’s lithium-ion batteries.
As for the interior, at first glance it doesn’t seem comfortable, very boxy, inspired by the 1980s (like the exterior). However, it aims to be a living room on wheels, where occupants enjoy spaciousness onboard, large storage compartments, and entertainment. Precisely, the i-cockpit will disappear, making way for Hypersquare, an original rectangular steering-wheel screen with four holes, where the edges are touch-sensitive.

The steering wheel remains, but it’s retractable to fit into the dashboard in autonomous driving mode. In this mode, a panoramic screen is housed beneath the windshield. However, Stellantis’ CEO is firm. Carlos Tavares states that autonomous technology has made “a lot of noise,” and it will still take time to realize fully.
What stands out, then, is that the brand will move very quickly in the coming years. New electric cars, with the e-308 and e-408 starting in 2023. And the next generation using the STLA platform will give rise to the Peugeot e-3008 at the end of this year, followed by an e-5008. Then, the Peugeot Inception hints at the rest, with a probable e-508 for 2026, with 800 km of range. Stay tuned for more updates.
