By 2030, there will be no more thermal models in Peugeot’s catalog.
Peugeot has just presented its roadmap for the coming years. On this occasion, the Lion brand showcased what its upcoming models will look like. The vehicles, shrouded in darkness, adopt the aesthetic codes of the Inception concept revealed earlier this year. There are seven in total, with sometimes different silhouettes: SUVs on the right, a sedan in the center, two more compact vehicles on the left, and another sedan further left. The SUVs are expected to correspond to the future 5008, 3008, and 2008, the compact vehicles to the 308 and 208, the first sedan in the center to the Inception concept, and the second to the 508.
This image previews the lineup from 2025. Starting that year, Peugeot will offer at least one electric version of each of its cars. By 2030, thermal models will be permanently removed from the Lion’s catalog in Europe.
An Electric Peugeot 3008 with 700 km of range
During the same conference, Peugeot announced that the future 3008 would offer up to 700 km of range in its electric configuration. It will inaugurate the STLA platform, which will later be used on many other models from the Stellantis group. Apparently, Peugeot will also offer it with petrol and plug-in hybrid mechanics.
The electric version will not be limited to one configuration. Customers will have the choice between three power levels, which have not yet been detailed at this stage. Peugeot announced that there will be a 3008 with two motors and all-wheel drive. The new 3008 will be revealed in the second half of the year, shortly followed by a new generation of the 5008.
The latest major announcement concerns the arrival of a new 48-volt hybrid powertrain this year. Offered on the 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008, and 408, it will consist of a 100 or 136 hp petrol engine and a 21 kW electric motor integrated into the gearbox. According to Peugeot, this hybridization will reduce fuel consumption by an average of 15%. It will also enable some kilometers to be traveled in electric mode in urban environments.
