Nissan: Extreme Journey from the North Pole to the South Pole in Electric

A British couple will travel from the North Pole to the South Pole in a Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE to promote the capabilities of electric vehicles.

The departure for these extreme travelers is scheduled for March 2023. Traveling through 14 countries and across the American continent, they will reach their destination in Antarctica. They will cover approximately 27,360 kilometers together.

This expedition aims to raise awareness among the planet’s inhabitants about the climate crisis. Additionally, it promotes the crucial role that electric vehicles can play in reducing carbon footprint. These two individuals, Chris and Julie Ramsey, have prepared for this journey over four years. 

Moreover, they recently partnered with Nissan and Arctic Trucks for the technical execution of the project. Nissan is providing the vehicle: a Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE. Arctic Trucks has outfitted the car for the extreme conditions these explorers will face. The vehicle will accompany them throughout the journey to give them the best chance to survive until the end of the route with their car.

Details of the Expedition 

Arctic Trucks anticipates extreme temperatures over the long route of the couple: from -30°C to +30°C. Therefore, the vehicle’s technical preparation will be very important. Electric cars, in particular, require more power to operate in low temperatures during winter.

Chris and Julie Ramsey will soon set off from the magnetic North Pole, and here is a preview: 

Weather conditions and challenging terrains will be two of the guiding principles of this long journey. Between torrential rains, mud, high temperatures, and strong winds, everything is planned to test these extreme explorers.

This expedition also has a philanthropic goal. The Ramseys will encounter different cultures along their route, which will offer solutions to combat global warming. The team is also working with industry leaders to adapt existing cutting-edge wind and solar technologies to recharge their electric Ariya in polar regions and turn their camp into a portable micro-grid.

Furthermore, with thorough preparation, this expedition could change people’s perceptions of electric cars and their capabilities. If the Nissan Ariya survives the journey, what else might it accomplish?
