New Bike Release: Red Will Introduces Its Cargo Family Smart 545

Specialized in long-term bicycle rentals, the French start-up Red Will introduces today a new Cargo bike aimed at families, aptly named Family Smart 545.

You have probably noticed, but purchasing an electric bike represents a significant expense. And this is despite the fairly substantial subsidies offered by the regions. If you’re a parent and wish to invest in a so-called “cargo” bike, capable of carrying one or two children in addition to the rider, the costs can be very high, often between 2,800 and 5,000 euros.

And what if the solution was not purchasing but renting? Developed for Île-de-France Mobilités, the Triporteur is, for example, an interesting option, offered from €40/month, for a duration of 1 month or 3 months, renewable.

Another player gaining momentum is the French start-up Red Will. Present in Paris, Bordeaux, and recently in Lyon, Red Will specializes in rental electric models, with a more premium aspect than its main competitor. To date, the company has surpassed a thousand subscribers.

The latest innovation is the Red Will Family Start 545, which competes with the leading models in the electric Cargo bike category, such as the Gaya Cargo, Decathlon Longtail R 500, Moustache Lundi 20.3, etc. Its relatively compact size, with small (puncture-proof) wheels and a low frame, makes it particularly manageable.

Unusual for a rental bike, it features a Bosch motor with a torque of 85 Nm. Enough to carry the family comfortably and smoothly. It should be noted that the electric motor is equipped with E-bike Lock technology, allowing remote locking of the motor via a smartphone app.

The rental price is known

Like its competitors, the Family Smart 545 can be equipped with accessories such as baby seats (up to two), side panniers for transport, a mirror, a second battery charger to increase range, a helmet with a visor, and more.

The price is set at €135 per month with a 6-month commitment or €155 with a monthly subscription. It is, of course, eligible for the sustainable mobility package, intended for employees and covering €58.33 per month.
