Nouveau Hyundai Kona en production

It is in the South Korean company’s factory in the Czech Republic that production has begun. A vehicle that will be marketed in Europe, and therefore built in Europe.

It was at the end of last week that the brand announced the start of production of its brand new Hyundai Kona. This announcement follows another awaited car from Volkswagen, the ID.7.

21,000 vehicles in the first year

As we approach September, the company hopes to manufacture nearly 21,000 Hyundai Konas before the end of the year. By the end of 2023, the new Kona should account for nearly 15% of the factory’s total production. However, production will only steadily increase over the next year, reaching a target of 50,000 Konas next year.

Two different models will be produced there

The factory will produce the Kona with two different batteries. The first will be equipped with a 65.4 kWh battery, paired with a 160 kW electric motor, offering a range of 514 kilometers in WLTP cycle. The second model will feature a 48.4 kWh battery, with a 114.6 kWh electric motor. All together, the range will be 377 km in WLTP cycle. The batteries will be manufactured in Poland at the LG Energy Solutions plant.

An adaptation for all

Among the 71,000 Kona vehicles produced over the next year and a half, some models will be made with right-hand drive. It will be available for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Cyprus. The new version will arrive in two new countries, as well as in two new French territories. Turkey and Israel, as well as Réunion and Guadeloupe.
