YouTube and Prime Video on Your Volvo

What if your charging stop at a Volvo station becomes a little moment of relaxation and leisure in front of a good series?

Whether to recharge your battery, wait for a loved one, or enjoy a peaceful moment, Volvo now offers the possibility to be entertained thanks to the integration of Prime Video into the Google Play suite. YouTube will also be available soon. These services will be accessible from September 18th in the form of a pre-installed app and will be gradually rolled out via an OTA (over-the-air) update, market by market.

While Volvo Cars is one of the first automakers to offer Prime Video in its cars, it’s not exactly groundbreaking; let’s admit that Tesla revolutionized in-car entertainment with its “Theatre”. With Netflix, Hulu, and soon X-Twitter among others, the American manufacturer’s offer to turn your car into a private viewing lounge is by far the richest on the market.

For safety reasons, access to video streaming in your Volvo will, of course, only be possible when the car is stationary.

Next steps

• Prime Video will be available for download from Google Play. YouTube will come pre-installed as part of an OTA update.
• Both applications will be available in Volvo cars equipped with Google worldwide, except in China, South Korea, and Vietnam.
