Here is the cheapest new Tesla currently available

In the ongoing roller coaster of prices that Tesla is known for, it can be challenging to keep track. But for 37,990 euros, what does the Model 3 offer?

A superstar in the world of electric sedans, the Tesla Model 3 has always combined performance, range, energy management, and charging capabilities—all at a surprisingly competitive price. This is the advantage of being a new manufacturer without the legacy costs of the past.

After a promising start to its career, the Model 3 returns this fall 2023 with an updated version. The look is refined; some might say more aerodynamic, but the goal is simply to give the American style more personality as the EV market undergoes transformation. Renault with its Scénic, Peugeot with its 3008, Volvo, Mercedes, BMW, Mini, etc., resistance is about to strike hard.

Finally, there’s a parameter that shouldn’t be overlooked: the “sedan” format is losing popularity, as customers now prefer SUVs. Consequently, the primary rival to the Model 3 is none other than the Model Y. A slightly raised and more spacious Model 3, sold at a higher price: +3000 euros. Ironically, its range is lower due to less aerodynamic design.

Prices

The most affordable new Tesla is indeed the new Model 3 Propulsion. As of October 29, 2023, it is listed at 42,990 euros before a 5,000-euro ecological bonus. That results in a final price of 37,990 euros. This is 1,000 euros more than the previous generation, but the trend points toward a forthcoming price reduction.

For this price, the Tesla Model 3 in Propulsion version promises up to 554 km of range in WLTP mixed cycle (about 450 km real-world) and accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. That’s quite impressive. Tesla remains silent about the power and battery capacity, but estimates hover around 280 hp and 66 kWh.

Regarding charging, all Model 3 models support up to 170 kW, enabling up to 282 km of range in 15 minutes.

Exterior

Beautifully redesigned, the Model 3 offers only one color option at no extra cost: multi-layer pearl white. The other four shades (blue, black, anthracite gray, and red) cost between 1300 and 2000 euros.

The 18-inch Photon wheels are covered with plastic hubcaps. The 19-inch Nova option costs 1190 euros and reduces range to 513 km, so it’s of little interest.

There are no other options available besides the tow hook (1350 euros).

Interior

Tesla’s approach to simplifying options means they are rare. The American manufacturer doesn’t want to slow down production with endless customizations. Thus, inside, the only available option relates to the seat color. Black seats are standard; they can be upgraded to white for 1190 euros.

Note that this new version has been modernized as well, with higher-quality materials, improved sound system, and the addition of an 8″ rear central screen for watching movies. Handy for entertaining children during long trips or while charging in remote areas.

Conclusion

The Tesla Model 3 Propulsion remains THE benchmark in the electric sedan universe. At 37,990 euros, it may not be within everyone’s reach, but it offers a lot for that price.

What about a possible upcoming price drop? It’s hard to say due to its manufacturing location: Shanghai, China. This factor could even exclude it from the 2024 ecological bonus system. If so, it’s uncertain whether Tesla is willing to cut prices, especially since its operating margins have plummeted in 2023 and are causing concern among investors. In short: don’t wait too long to order if you desperately want a Tesla Model 3…
