The Tesla Cybertruck or Ecological Hypocrisy

Elon Musk revealed that his 3.7-ton pickup could accelerate to 100 km/h in 3 seconds. What’s the point of such energy wastage?

Guest on a radio show (which he loves), Elon Musk obviously couldn’t resist playing the know-it-all. The narcissistic embodiment of that trait, only at Tesla he takes the stage to dispense information and prolong the suspense. Risking to bore, the Cybertruck is very likely to fail spectacularly if it doesn’t live up to all the promises placed in it.

The threat comes from Musk himself, the billionaire reaffirming just how much development and manufacturing of his pickup is an industrial headache. According to the businessman, the goal is to produce 200,000 units annually of the Cybertruck, a relatively small volume considering pre-orders allegedly reaching 2 million cars. That’s roughly 10 years of production. Not sure everyone will want to wait that long…

Rockets, Musk launches into the sky, but also onto the road. With pride, he confirmed that the Cybertruck aims to accelerate, in its most powerful version with three motors and with the Beast mode enabled, from 0 to 96.5 km/h (60 miles/h) in less than 3 seconds.

A LOST SOUL?

Such an energy extravagance still raises questions and ultimately annoys the early supporters of the brand in the United States. An increasing number of owners are hurriedly selling their Tesla, tired of the ideological and narcissistic shift taken by the company’s founder, especially on his social network X (formerly Twitter). The initial idea of switching from an internal combustion car to an electric model for ecological virtue often comes back to the table. But with a 3.7-ton pickup capable of unknown and unnecessary performances, the DNA is being lost.

The Cybertruck will be officially presented on November 30, 2023, a date on which Elon Musk has promised new technical revelations. The first deliveries will follow shortly thereafter.
